What is a backup phrase at Zumo?

In this video we explain what your backup phrase is, and why it's so important.

Once you sign up to Zumo, you are provided with a private key that we never see or have access to — we ensure that you are the only person who can access your wallet.

But with great power comes great responsibility. Keeping your private key safe is essential and the risk of not taking this seriously is not to be underestimated.

In the world of centralised banking (boo!), losing your PIN number means that you just ask your bank for a new one. However, misplacing or losing your Zumo private key can mean that funds are rendered inaccessible forever.

Your Zumo wallet provides you with all of the necessary security features to keep your cryptocurrency safe, but it is down to you to take care of your private key, ensuring that it doesn’t get lost or fall into the wrong hands.

Sound complicated and stressful?

Don’t worry — it doesn’t need to be. In this guide we explain private keys and help you to take some simple steps to ensure that your private key is safe and secure and that you — and only you — have access to your funds at all times.

Learn how transaction speed work with Zumo

Learn more about our fee and the blockchain fees

Transaction times and charges can vary depending on several factors.

When sending Bitcoin or ether, you’ll be given a rundown of the attached fee to process the transaction. The transaction itself is usually quick but can be slightly delayed if there’s a high volume of transactions and traffic on the Bitcoin network itself.

You can choose how quickly you’d like your transaction to be processed. There are 3 options for the transaction speed - Low, medium and high. Depending on which one you choose you’ll pay a slightly higher or lower fee and again the transaction time also depends on the network traffic on either the Bitcoin or Ethereum network. If you’ve chosen the high transaction speed and there’s a lot of traffic on the network it’ll be slightly delayed but your transaction will still be completed quicker than if you chose the low speed option.

What are the Zumo fees?

Selling cryptocurrrency is easy with Zumo. In this video, we'll show you quickly you can do it.

Zumo is completely transparent about fees.

When it comes to buying, exchanging and selling cryptocurrencies there are two fees: The network fee and the exchange fee.

The network fee is the cost of processing the transaction on the blockchain network, be it Bitcoin or Ethereum. These networks function thanks to “miners” who validate, process and keep transactions secure and in doing so they take a small fee. It is what everybody using the Blockchain has to pay so these fees don’t come from Zumo and Zumo makes no profit from these fees.

The exchange fee is Zumo’s fee, and it's super competitive at only 0.5%.

And that’s all, as simple as that.
